"The talent level and the character of the players, combined with the effort and intensity displayed on the court, provided a unique playing and viewing experience throughout the event.  The players were not only willing to be coached, but wanted to win and were willing to put forth the effort each game.  This was a great first year to what will be an outstanding annual event for the players and programs from Division II, III and the NAIA."

David McLaughlin, Head Coach, Stonehill College.

"I have observed John since he was the marketing-fund raising director at Lynn University. I worked with him when he became the director of athletics at Lynn. I saw him develop into an outstanding athletic administrator. He is extremely personable, is very organized, and is a Leader. He chaired several important conference committees and served on some NCAA committees. He is also an outstanding family man."

Don Landry, Retired Commissioner, Sunshine State Conference

"During my tenure as National Chair of NCAA DII Men's Basketball, I had the pleasure to work with John McCarthy for two years as he was the Regional Chair of the South Region. He did an outstanding job of representing his region, always well prepared with a gifted manner in presenting his material to our committee. One of the committee's responsibilities was to administer the Elite Eight National Basketball Tournament. John was always one of the first to volunteer his services and his duties were always completed in a professional manner. John's willingness to work, his creativity, and his ability to stick to details makes him an ideal person to head up any project."

Butch Raymond, Commissioner, NSIC
